The past couple of days have been hell on wheels for Chris Kinman. At 6pm Friday night (13-Mar-20) he was writing a lengthy message to a special customer, after 40 minutes he clicked the send button and the screen morphed into the Domain Registration Expired notice. Not only had 40 minutes of intense brain power been lost but the website was down.
We did not receive any advance warning or notification or request for payment what-so-ever. So he went into immediate action and tried to find who our domain is registered with and so he consulted Who-Is directory. He was angered when he found the relevant section of Who-Is was also down.
The webmaster has since told him that an american company enom held the registration for kinman.com so next he tried log-in but the password had been lost in a computer incident so he clicked the Forgot Password button and was told to check our email for the reset procedure. Trouble was our company email was taken down along with the website. Catch 22. The next thing he tried was contacting enom for help but the only way to contact them is by telephone … they don’t provide a Live Chat or Message or email methods. Chris called the number on an expensive International call and waited for over an hour listening to a maddening repetitive piece of music over n over n over. Every 10 minutes a voice would invite him to press 1 to have a Help Desk operator call him back, which he did, but the voice continued and went back to the maddening repetitive piece of music over n over n over. He pressed 1 many time and after an hour his patience was exhausted and he hung up. The call cost $60 and he didn’t get to speak to anyone.
Don’t ask him what he thinks about enom if you don’t like hearing an angry outburst uttering expletive after expletive. He vowed then and there to take our Domain Registration away from enom and give it to a responsive and responsible company that give advance warning of Domain expiry, as any decent vendor would. The inference is that enom, like a lot of huge American companies, is far less than decent. He says they don’t give a hoot about their customers and their customer service is non existent.
